Be careful with the memes you make up on the fly to dis your opponents. While they might reveal nothing much about them; they just might reveal everything about you. I mean you don’t want to give too much away now. Do you? That would be telling.

Here is the meme currently doing the rounds.

If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, than you have deeply, deeply misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ

All righty then on with the show.

The meme screams; just tell me you are a progressive without telling me you are a progressive.

The clue is the teachings of Jesus. This is used by those we know as progressive followers of Christ. The rest of us are Christians, we do not speak or believe this way. Well Jesus did school the Jews. Still.

What we take away from that is do not add to or deduct from what is written.

Your wooly theology is not on us. You own it.

Let’s turn the last part back on them. Could it be that they have so deeply misunderstood? What I mean to say is could they have it all wrong.

Note the play on your Christianity in the meme. Just because they disagree does not mean they get to ply their take as the correct one. It is like telling others they on the wrong side of history; when in fact it is they who do not get it. Nor do they want to. No one owns Christianity; so the moment you imply it’s a case of yours or mine, you are suspect.

These same folks love the we have to take back Christianity thing. So they definitely want to brand the faith in their own image. So you can take everything they say on the matter with a pinch of salt.

And there you have it. It is all about power. I can’t believe they brought this up. Man they plain stoopid. So they throw in the bit about the powerful and the powerless. This is at the heart of where they at.

Post modernism writ large. Hello you rowdy fools we see you. Now please be so kind as to just skedaddle.

You do not talk truth to power. What you do is appeal to the will to power. So glad we got this out of the way.

Oh and about the Kingdom of God. Jesus did not ask you for your manifesto as he was all out of ideas. These are spiritual truths not of this world. So forget the Bolshevik’s the first will be last, and the last will be first type thing. How you love this one.

We can tell.
