The Mindset of the Evil; what it looks like.

Did you know when evil is spelt backwards you get the word live, the opposite of evil and what it does, which is to kill life; whether that be physical, mental or spiritual.

It is fair to say evil people not only hate the idea of complete freedom for others, they oppose it. Stay with me because where I’m going is not where you think.

What we often miss is evil has a mindset so it is here we must begin. It is one with an anti-life force as I’ve said.

What constitutes evil is not always so clear cut, there is an element of mystery at work, but there is one interesting if not profound psychological explanation of human evil; and we can apply it in all spaces.

Okay I will get there, but for now know evil people refuse to acknowledge their wrongs. Ever. And so they never see themselves as evil. Although they think they have a handle on everyone else. What is that verse about beams compared to moats in eyes again?

Jung correctly ascribed evil to the failure to “meet” the Shadow; an astute way to put it.

Evil is covert, underhanded and hidden from view a lot of the time. Their public personas are completely at odds with their interior worlds. Evil comes masked; it has to. So enter the false self or false front that hides a multitude of sins, a known thing in psychology.

Incongruence is another word for it, where the outer and inner man does not tie up; so there is a grave mismatch.

Intellectual deviousness is another sign of evil.

The consistency of their sins is another pointer, and that is because those who have “crossed the line” refuse to tolerate the sense of their own sinfulness; so their sins increase, they will not tolerate the pain of their own guilt either, as everyone must; so for this reason they grow worse and worse?

Just as there is a tendency for the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer, so there seems to be a tendency for the good to get better; and the bad to get worse.

While people harp on about love to the point of obsession, the evil are resistant to it, their state of soul means they hardened against it. In fact love will only serve to bring out the worst in them; indeed it is doubtful they know what love is, do they see it as hate? They will converse everything like Orwell said.

Unconditional love is what a mother has for her helpless, innocent infant, it does not, nor should not, apply anywhere else. This same mother has the expectation that her toddler will toilet train within a certain time.

Scapegoating is another trait of the truly evil. Since they think they are faultless, it is inevitable that when they come into conflict with the world; they will perceive the conflict as the world’s fault. To deny their own badness, they must see others as bad.

They project their own evil onto the world yet they see so much evil in others. Does any of this ring a bell yet? It should.

Now here is that psychological explanation of evil that I promised.

Evil is the exercise of political power that imposes one’s will on others, through overt or covert force, as a way to avoid….spiritual growth.

To sum up; the evil would rather change others than change themselves; which is an evil in itself. In other words, the evil attack others instead of facing their own demons.

Spiritual growth requires the acknowledgment of the need to grow. If they cannot acknowledge this, they have no option except to try and browbeat others into submission to starve off a challenge.

Evil people are committed to preserving their false self-image of perfection; they are engaged in the effort to maintain the appearance of moral purity. They do this all the time. The euphemism is virtue signalling.

When they look in the mirror they see themselves reflected back righteously. Yet the fact they see the need for deception shows they know the difference between right and wrong; but do wrong anyway. They have this curious ability to pull the wool over their eyes.

There is a paradox at work, while evil people think they perfect they do have a sense of their own evil nature; but it goes unacknowledged.

But look ‘under their hood’ or behind the mask and what do you see; the hatred hidden by the smile, the fury behind the smooth manner, the fist covered by the velvet glove. They are experts of the disguise. The disguise is usually impenetrable. In unguarded moments they might give themselves away, in this game of hide-and seek; where the soul hides from itself.

Evil people are wilful; they determined to have their own way.

What is more they have this remarkable power in the manner in which they attempt to control others, as well as to confuse them.

Most people fail in the art of living because they do not wake up and see when they stand at a fork in the road and have to decide.
