New US Administration Prepares

While the GOP accuses election officials of widespread fraud and files legal challenges mainstream media calls the presidential election a victory for Dem contender Joe Biden.

Even with results for Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada and Pennsylvania outstanding, Biden is predicted to win at least two of these states adding to his Electoral College vote lead.

By resorting to legal action, the GOP had hoped to halt vote counts and obtain recounts in the fight for key battleground states.

However, judges in Georgia and Michigan have dismissed the Trump Campaign’s lawsuits, while Pennsylvania has allowed Republicans to observe counts at polling stations.

The question of how to secure extra seats in the Senate under a Biden Presidency is next in the minds of many Dems.

Georgia may just provide the answer as two senate seats are up for grabs through repeat elections that’ll be held in January next year as the Republican candidates have not attained the 50% outright win demanded by state law.

So far, the Senate race stands at a dead heat of 48–48 if the seats of two independent senators are taken into account as they caucus with democrats.

These seats are occupied by Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Angus King of Maine.

Thus, it is likely the makeup of the Senate will only be known in January next year.

The Presidential Transition Team stands ready

It looks like Joe Biden’s Presidential transition team is moving into high gear.

Comprised of Obama administration officials, advisers to other 2020 Democratic presidential candidates, and even Republicans, all are on board with the effort to ensure a smooth transition of power for the presidential nominee and his running mate, Kamala Harris.

Ted Kaufman, the man who wrote the laws on presidential transitions as a senator and long-time Biden adviser, was appointed earlier this year to lead the team.

Sources told Politico in September that some 350 people could be working on the team by Inauguration Day.

Progressives, academics and even Republicans have also joined with Kaufman as they prioritize his “diversity of ideology” approach.

Advisers to Gautam Raghavan and other progressive lawmakers like former staffers to 2020 Democratic candidates Elizabeth Warren and Pete Buttigieg are also on Biden’s team.

Bob McDonald, a former veteran’s affairs secretary and a Republican, is on the Biden transition team’s advisory board as is Cindy McCain, widow of the late Republican senator John McCain.

This proves predictions that Biden will kowtow to the far left faction of the Democrat party was spot on as he charts the way forward.
