Made To Infect Humans
Pinning down the story on the origins of the Covid-19 virus is no mean feat with so many angles out there but one thing is certain something is off when compared to what we told.
A Flinders University academic who spent two decades developing vaccines against influenza, Ebola and SARS, say his findings allow for the possibility the virus leaked from a laboratory.
“The two possibilities which I think are both still open is that it was a chance transmission of a virus from an as yet unidentified animal to human. The other possibility is that it was an accidental release of the virus from a laboratory, said Petrovsky, certainly we cannot exclude the possibility that this came from a laboratory experiment rather than from an animal. They are both open possibilities.”
The corona virus enters human cells by binding to a protein on the surface of lung-cells called ACE2 with the virus bound more tightly to human-ACE2 than in any of the other animals they tested.
It was like it was designed to infect humans,” said the Professor.
“One of the other possibilities is an animal host was infected by two corona viruses at the same time and COVID-19 is the progeny of that interaction between the two viruses”
“The same process can happen in a petri-dish; if you have human cells in the culture with two different viruses they can swap genetic information and you can accidentally or deliberately create a whole third new virus out of that system.”
This process called cell culture theory is gaining steam.
Studies found the COVID-19 virus particularly well adapted to bind to human cells, a strange phenomenon if cross species mutation is the cause of the pandemic, in which case the virus should bind much more loosely than in the cells of the original animal host so the opposite findings came as a big surprise.
If this was a leak from a lab obviously, the implications are huge; it would change the protocols of viral research all over the world, which is why scientists downplay the likelihood.
The Virus’s Workings are also peculiar
Those infected with Covid-19 should have the greatest immunity to the disease backed up by antibody counts as in other viruses, but this is not happening.
Producing T cells is another way the body builds immunity but HIV destroys these cells for example, just like in those with Leukemia, with the same true for many severely ill Covid-19 patients.
Vaccine researchers are looking to bolster the T-cell response in normal, healthy people while finding a way round for those with depleted immune systems.
We need to find the source of the corona virus pandemic not only to understand how we got here, but also to prevent possible future outbreaks.
