Just Give Us the Formula They Shout.

Despite the cry of legalism when it comes to rules they don’t like people are driven by formulas. They love their blueprints. If you can’t show your formula you have nothing. I speak of Christian theology. Just in case you wonder where this leads.

First of all there is the letter and the spirit of the law. Its’ true that law has to be seen in its proper context but the question is can the two co-exist? The scriptures say NO.

It says the law kills while the Spirit brings life. Now it is vital to get those spirits sorted first; so don’t get any strange ideas. You must realize the Spirit will not contradict the law to make it null and void.

The law is dead as it has no power. It does not provide one with the means to keep it. Is this so far so good?

Of course there is the penalty God warns of if the law is not kept one hundred percent. Keep it in its entirety or you die. So take this to mean the law is a death sentence.

The trouble is it is not the way so many see it. They are under the illusion they can, no do, keep the law. They think they will never be found deficient. And this is the rub. They are certain they will never be found wanting. Which is strange since only one person kept all the requirements of the law; and He was God. This is some standard to live up to, no?

A sorcerer in St Paul’s day was so fascinated by the power and workings of the Spirt that he offered money for it. He hoped to bottle it. He wanted to lay his hands on that formula. So badly that he was willing to pay for it.

People still do not like what they can’t lay their hands on. Call them the People of the Formula. They insist everything be written down. All in the hope this will instruct them and save them. Empower them too. Yet they still fail.

What they forget is it never worked in the past so why would it work now.

One atheist, and there are many of them that think the same way, has said the quiet part out loud.

Not in so many words mind, but he implies the problem with Christianity is it isn’t a rule based thing. Its statutes are not well defined. To him the problem lies with its lack of a set formula. There are no boxes to tick off.

At least he gets what many so called Christians do not. This only goes to show most people do not have a grasp of Christianity to start off with?

This and they badly want those rules so they can to get to pretend to keep them.

If you believe the spiel out there Christianity now boils down to two things. Love God and love your neighbour.

No, you have the wrong religion. This is not Christianity it is Judaism. You have side stepped the New Covenant. The whole point of the exercise.

Just how did this happen? As with most things it is due to a paucity in understanding. See here; that’s mah opinion sort of thing. Just like you have yours. These types get their knowledge from the person in front of them in the internet que. They go along with it because it sounds good to them.

What if I told you this take has been tried before; many, times? It has been pulled out of the trunk and dusted off time and again. Now while it may look as if we stuck here. All you need to know is this is one of the oldest heresies’ there is.

The Judaizers of their time wanted to tie Christians to the Ten Commandments and other Jewish customs. But a lot more was at stake as Paul so critically warned.

The risks of their grave doctrinal errors were pointed out; and Paul deemed them to be the propagators of such.

Fast forward till now and what do we have. Why that’d be Judaizers; but of a newer and revised strain this time.

Paul is rubbished by his critics for many reasons; but for this reason most of all. Critics will edge him out if they could. Judaizers want Christians to pretend they are Jews and forget all that New Testament stuff. This is why there is this constant play on sticking to the two commandments; in the hope they will forget the rest. It is an attempt to drag Christians back under the law and turn them into mini Jews.

St Paul had a lot to say about many Christians living in the end times. They will be apostates and reject the requirements of The New Covenant; indeed even the idea of such a thing. It sounds legit; and here we are.

They won’t be coy about using His name to support their pet causes. Why even the heathens will do it.

God had a good reason to be angry with the Israelites in the time of Moses. They chose to reject Him as tutor as well as His attempt to get them to understand. Instead they demanded Moses write down what he wanted them to do. In short they chose the law. Fine; and you shall have it was God’s response.

In a foreshadowing of what was to come he went on.

I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you. I have set life and death before you today; both blessings and curses. Choose life; so you and your descendants will live.

This is it in a nutshell.
