Is God Punishing the US?

In answer to that question a writer at the Jerusalem Post seems to think that He is.

He asks; why has America in its role as the world’s policeman begun to fall apart? What happened?

He notes that; over these past 13 years, with the advent of the smartphone and the exponential rise of social networking, hardly a day goes by that we don’t see some catastrophic event or trend that does not augur well for the continued success of the world’s greatest democracy.

Oh that and the fact US culture is going downhill, fast.

Here is a breakdown of why the TJP thinks that it is America is being punished.

1) A US civil war between Republicans and Democrats

The country is in the midst of a civil war whether people want to admit it or not.

The legislative branch of government finds itself in a position where any proposal put forth by one party; will not find support by the other.

2) Mass Shootings

There have been over 300 mass shootings in the US this year as of early July, the largest number by far of any country in the world. Why is the situation so bad only in the US? He asks.

Then there is the issue of gun ownership. A Swiss-based worldwide small arms survey in 2018 showed that there are 120.5 small arms for every 100 people in the US. This is twice the number of Yemen, the 2nd on the list of countries with the highest gun ownership ratio in the world.

3) The catastrophic weather in the US

On average, the US experiences fewer than 1,500 tornadoes a year. From June there have already been 940 reported tornadoes which means the country is on track to see 2,000 or more. Which means a 33% increase year-on-year.

Then there are the extreme weather episodes which seem to be confined only to the US.

The US Homeless Crisis

California has the highest number of homeless people in the country at 161 000, followed by New York with 91 000. When compared with other western countries it is a track record.

Tent cities are springing up all over the country but especially in these two areas.

Why is it this Bad?

If one accepts the religious concept that whatever happens in the world is part of God’s plan it is possible to postulate that God had a plan for the United States of America. After all, it was Abraham Lincoln who opined in 1865 that America was the “almost chosen people.”

Now there has never been a time like this. The US appears broken and there is a sense of powerlessness at work.

It is almost as if God is now expressing displeasure with his servant, the US, in the course it has taken.

The Economic Collapse Blog refers to the Jerusalem Post article and takes up the theme, and the question of why so many bad things are happening in the US right now.

They ask; could it be possible that there is a common thread that connects all of the bad things that are constantly happening to us?

The blog adds crop failures and food shortages to the country’s growing list of woes.

As I write this news comes of yet another fire that has mysteriously broken out at another food manufacturing plant this time in Montebello California.

I have lost count of how many there have been just over the past year. So you can add sabotage to the mix.

Along with avocados, cream cheese, chickpeas, and olive oil, the supply of tomatoes has started to dwindle.

Then there is growing inflation as the Federal Reserve continues to print more money in line with its goals of ‘quantitive easing’.

Interest rates have been hiked which will lead to a housing crash, though many believe it has already begun with home purchases down thirty percent.

Bird flu has resulted in a shortage of chicken and turkeys with tens of millions having been wiped out.

Covid 19 is still around. And now there is Monkey Pox.

Then there is a proxy war with Russia over Ukraine with congress rubber stamping billions in aid to Ukraine all this for the account of the US taxpayer.

As always with these things there is a real threat of nuclear war.

And on it goes.
