Biblical Esque Floods engulf Parts of the US; more to Follow.
Some now call the rains biblical, a few media outlets too as streets turn into rivers and rivers turn into lakes; then there is the risk that dams might burst their banks.
As in the days of Noah comes to mind when one views the gloomy footage; and maps the trail of destruction.
The warnings for States at risk come thick and fast as does the advice to head for higher ground.
In New York flash flood warnings are in force for Staten Island, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Westchester County; across the border in New Jersey as well.
In the streets many vehicles are almost submerged by the water.
New Jersey has just declared a State of Emergency re the flash floods.
Flooding in the south is wide spread and is affecting states such as; Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas
Make that in Plant City Florida as well where nearly eleven inches of rainfall just fell in less than four hours.
One report says they just opened Buchanan Dam in Texas and released hell. Four floodgates opened for the first time in six years. With not a flow, but a roar. Water swallowing land, homes, yards streets. Locals say they have never seen anything like it. This isn’t rain they say. This is judgement.
One three day weather forecast for today Tuesday 7/15 to Friday 7/18 shows that more states are likely to be caught up in this vortex.
Another forecaster took one look as he said; what, no way.
Bear in mind that ‘1000 year floods’ are supposed to be rare.
And yet in a three day period Texas and North Carolina both experienced multiple ‘1000 year floods.’ In total there have been more than a dozen of them. So this is what you would call extremely rare.
Mark what I say; a 1000-year flood does not mean it only happens once in a thousand years.
What it means as well is there is a one in one thousand chance of that kind of rainfall happening in any given year.
Which still makes it rare but not impossible? Going by what we have seen of late it is no longer uncommon either. This is a symptom of a much bigger shift. To put things into perspective; those in the know say these types of floods no longer appear to be just freak accidents. In other words they are the new-normal. From now on; there is a good chance that 2025 will be marked as the year the floods came ….and stayed!
We hear that North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota are now in the crosshairs as well.
New Orleans has been warned to batten down the hatches this weekend while a dangerous weather system forms in the Gulf Coast.
