Are you Busy Building Back your Own Type of Faith? Then Welcome to the Broad Road.

Yes the topic of the hour is what they call deconstruction.

This seems to be a hot American trend right now; or what am I missing? Just look at the huge number of podcasts, youtube vids and books on the issue alone.

It used to be that people tried to avoid being seen as a heretic now the term is worn as a badge of honour. To be honest the deconstructs have never met a heresy that they don’t like.

I will say the sheer derision and hubris they demonstate is a thing to behold. This as they carelessly congratulate each other for being humble.

Well I have been taking a look just so you know, and here is my synopsis.

This movement does not occur in a void. The fight is with the faith as we understand it; they want to throw it out and pick and choose the rest.

This is strange stuff given that these types accuse Christianity of being a religion that seems to stand for what it is against. Then again who ever said they do not have one massive blind side.

So it seems like rebellion is baked in this pie?

The premise of these deconstructs is that no one has the right to define what or who a Christian is; so for them it is all open-ended. Not to mention up for grabs. They believe they can make it up to go. What this means is that stuff like theology, doctrines, dogmas and creeds are OUT; they get in the way. Oh and the bible is an idol too. Well except for what they call the red letter words which just so happens to tie up with their politics.

As trite as it sounds, for them it is all down to me and mah opinion. Oh and their nebulous lived experience. Listening to them you end up scratching your head and thinking what? A more befuddled group of people you could not wish to meet.

They are down- right arrogant too. Can you say malcontents?

What you take away is that everyone does (and thinks) what is right in their own eyes; though this is what the scriptures say too. Too bad they never read this bit.

As disturbing as this movement is you have to remember it was called well over two thousand years ago. This is what the end times will look like.

It is about folk who use the name of Jesus to promote whatever it is they are trying to sell with they hope they will prevail. As it is written; just let us use your name. That is all.

Spirituality is their right, they will find it where they will; even make it up if they have to, and you can’t stop them. This is another religion; but one they say that should bear the name of Christian.

The apostle Paul warns of such a time as this when people will reject the New Covenant. They will be down with pretty much everything else though.

For another thing these folk believe Christianity is about who THEY are. For some reason they think it is built around their identity.

Now for people who claim to know exactly what Jesus would think this is darn odd.

In His own words His Church would be built on the understanding of who he was. And is. Which would make this idea that He would have to make room for the identities of others profane?

Okay Houston it looks like we have a problem.

They want to at the least try and persuade those who hold to Trad teachings, or if possible to have them de-convert, yes.

This may well be small peas as they do have greater ambitions in the scheme of things.

Their big ambition is to change the way we see Church. At the very top of their list though; is to change its teachings.

So let me sum up their approach in a way you will understand. In their efforts to make the faith about anything and everything; they make it about nothing. Agreed? If you don’t get it then read it again.

Those who push this movement are like the blind leading the blind. They will get worse and worse. They will deceive others; and as they do they will deceive themselves.

The whole thing works like a crazy feedback loop. The joke is on them yet they don’t or can’t see it.
