Are Activists Trying To Queer Churches?
A few months ago Rod Dreher, author of the Benedict Option, caused quite the stir with his claim that gay activists are trying to infiltrate Churches; with the intent to queer them.
A leader in a prominent conservative Evangelical denomination had just warned him of the new battle still to take place over the LGBT issue; in the next phase of the culture wars.
This leader took his cue from feedback he had received from five different churches in the southern region of his state. And the stories were all similar.
Strangers had joined their congregations then about six months later came out as transgender to demand their rights as members of the Church.
The denomination’s lawyers are concerned that Transgender activists are using this tactic to push for recognition; and where they do not get it, to sue the Churches.
The leader then made the observation; there are a lot of churches in our denomination that don’t have a lot of money, if they get sued, they won’t have enough resources to even defend themselves.
The leader met with the pastors of the region who say they perplexed by the situation.
Many of them are barely able to understand gender fluidity as a concept; much less try and deal with it from a traditional Christian point of view.
So one could say they sitting ducks?
On the advice of lawyers they are rewriting their bylaws to protect from these types of sneak attacks.
What the leader says next is an eye-opener:
Most of the people in the denomination believe being a Christian is mostly about holding certain cultural and political beliefs; but most of all being nice.
They can’t understand why people don’t like them, and they think that if they’re nice, they’ll win people over. I have tried to explain why this isn’t true, but most of the leaders in [my denomination] don’t want to believe it.
In ten years, this church is going to look very, very different.
Since then, there have been conversations about how diabolical this Trans strategy thing is; it is in fact crazy.
But this is the reality Christians in this culture will have to face. One pastor says he is pessimistic about Christianity’s chances in his state; especially in the near future.
The leadership in so many churches prefers to keep their heads buried in the sand; because they can’t emotionally accept the reality of what is happening.
One lawyer for religious freedom offers up some sage advice.
Every church should have updated their Statement of Faith and related bylaws for the post-Obergefell era. If churches do not have detailed, clear “theology” written down they will be vulnerable. Don’t wait until you get sued or challenged to address this issue.
Twenty odd years ago at a touch-feely weekend getaway tied up with the Cursillo movement; something else strange happened.
Two women who had come together began crying saying they loved each other, but their parish was rejecting them.
Not long after that, we kept hearing about gay couples coming out on Friday night, said this pastor.
And before long; gays took over the leadership of the Cursillo movement.
The last word goes to Rod Dreher.
I have just received a detailed letter from an academic who says his former research canter actively recruits interns to infiltrate Churches; and to spread gender ideology.
It looks as if the same method is being copied elsewhere though in different states.
