A Big-Tech Cabal Buys Up Smart Cities.
At first it was Bill Gates and Black Rock buying up acres of US farmland like there was no tomorrow. Now tech oligarchs have got in on the act; as they buy up vast tracts of land to create smart cities.
Big techies from Silicon Valley have spent nearly one billion dollars on Californian land and we learn they want to create a fifteen minute city; right next to Travis Airforce base too.
Okay for those who don’t know this is all about the Green Agenda with its emphasis on sustainability. It has to do with climate change. Here is a new name for you to remember they are also known as C40 cities.
And this one is next to a military base? Are they kidding?
If you want a good example of money equaling control this is it. It’s funny how they have this ambitious drive to build things first of all, then there are the big plans to drive and corral in as many of the population that they can.
Initially the news of this land grab was attributed to Chinese spies honing in on US turf. Some law makers feared as much and said so.
Not that their fears were without merit; remember just last year a Chinese Company bought 300 acres of farmland near a US air force base in Grand Forks.
It turns out a consortium by the name of Flannery Associates are the buyers in this case. We do know that they are the biggest landowner in Solano County; which is situated about sixty miles Northeast of San Francisco.
So who is this Flannery crowd?
Well this group’s backers are a who’s who list of Big Tech titans and investors. They include Linkedin co-founder Reid Hoffman and Emerson Collective philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs; this according to the New York Times. Then there are; Marc Andreessen of the private venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, former Sequoia Capital partner Michael Moritz and Stripe co-founders Patrick and John Collison, as well as entrepreneurs Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross
The group is said to be headed by Jan Sramek, a 36-year-old former Goldman Sachs trader; who has spent the last few years securing funds from Silicon Valley luminaries for the project.
In a statement obtained by the Wall Street Journal Brian Brokaw, spokesman for Flannery said; “We are proud to partner on a project that aims to deliver good-paying jobs, affordable housing, clean energy, sustainable infrastructure, open space and a healthy environment to residents of Solano County”
“We are excited to start working with residents and elected officials, as well as with Travis Air Force Base, on making that happen,” Brokaw added.
Meanwhile residents have voiced their growing unease with all this and we learn the Federal Government has ordered a probe into Flannery’s buying sprees.
Then we hear Flannery recently filed a lawsuit against a group of local landowners, alleging that they colluded in a price-fixing scheme to drive up the cost of their properties.
To proceed with their project Flannery would likely have to clear many regulatory hurdles. This will require approval by local voters too.
Will they manage to wrap this one up; and will the steal continue are the questions.
